It has been a couple of months since I last wrote anything on this blog.  As I wrote on Oct. 3, we had a wonderful event in Sept.  God blessed the event and we are grateful for all who participated.  The children were great and the volunteers did an outstanding job with them.

Work has been slower than we had hoped for in completing the pavilion.  With Buddy working full time, it seems he does not have the time he would like to work on the camp.  Hopefully after the first of the year it will all be complete.  He has been working on putting up the vinyl siding.  He lacks just a little on the back side and over the bathrooms and that will be completed.  The kitchen cabinets are painted and ready for the doors to be hung and the counter tops installed.  The ceiling is painted.  Now, the tile needs to be laid in the kitchen, the wallboard hung, the roll up door installed over the serving counter then we will be ready for the appliances.  We need to purchase a freestanding stove and a refrigerator.

We praise God for His many blessings and provisions of the ministry in 2012.  It has been amazing to look back and reflect on all that was accomplished this year.  We are excited to see what God has in store for 2013.  We thank you for your faithful prayers for the ministry and faithful support.  May God bless you as you have blessed us!

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas as we remember the true meaning of Christmas and also a very blessed New Year in 2013.

Kick-Off Event September 14-15, 2012

A Weekend Filled with Fun and Adventure!!

We had a wonderful weekend with our 1st Event at the camp.  We hosted a Boy's Camping Retreat.  We had several groups come and camp out on Friday night and then were joined by others on Saturday for breakfast and the competition events.  We had a total of 31 boys participate in the activities of Friday and Saturday and 33 or more adults.  The adults included the leaders of the groups, the volunteers who helped with the food and competition events and a few parents.  It was great to see them all come together and have a great time.  We praise God for the number of people who participated and thank for for His protection over everyone during the event.

We were thankful to the Brotherhood of Bethel Baptist Church for coming to prepare the breakfast for us on Saturday morning.  Phillip Hunter headed this up and we appreciate his hard work all with the helpers who came with him. The meal was great and was enjoyed by all.

Boys on the scavenger hunt.  One item listed to find was something alive with 4 legs.  One little boy asked Buddy if a frog counted and pulled him out of his shirt.  They had a ball trying to find everything on the list.  Rumors were they saw moose, bears and other wild animals in the woods.

Sitting around waiting for things to get underway!!

Tents were lined up between the pavilion and woods!

The boys are enjoying just being outside!

These 2 pictures are of the competition events.  Awards were presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.  Age groups were 1st-3rd grade and 4th-6th grade.  All the boys did really well.

Thomas Dunn along with others were teaching the boys how to shoot the pellet rifle and teaching them safety in handling the pellet guns as well.

Robin & Linda helping with the blow dart competition.

Malinda & Hayward Quattlebaum headed up the casting event.
Hayward even brought his boat!

The hot dogs are being prepared to serve.  It seems all are enjoying the meal!!

Robin Braswell  & Stanley Sailors are tallying up the scores.

We had groups from 4 churches in the area to participate.  Thank you leaders for coming and spending times with these boys and investing in their lives and sharing about the good news of Christ with them.

Preparing For 1st Event

On Sept. 1 & 8, 2012 volunteers were busy working on the pavilion getting it ready for the upcoming event on Sept. 14 & 15.  Sheetrock was being hung, plumbing finished up, lights and plugs were installed.  Everyone was busy as beavers.  Several volunteers also worked the week of Sept. 10-14 each afternoon making sure the walls were painted, trim worked finished, sinks and toilets put in in order to be ready on Friday evening when the boys started arriving.  The serving counter at the kitchen was even installed. We praise God for all the workers and everything they did to have it ready.  It was amazing to see it all come together and it would not have been possible without the diligent and sacrificial work of these volunteers.  Thank you to each one who had a part in making it happen.

Progress is being made!

We had another workday on August 11.  We praise the Lord for the amount of work accomplished and the number of volunteers who showed up to help.  It was a great day, despite the constant rain showers.  The roof was completed on the office building and a lot of work on the pavilion was done.

The wiring for the pavilion was started on the 18th and also the plumbing has been started.

To update the needs list in a previous post:  We now have the water fountain.  We were also able to purchase 18 picnic tables for the pavilion.  We praise the Lord for providing funds for these items.

Please pray for the upcoming Boy's Camping Retreat on Sept. 14-15.  Pray for the saftey of these  boy's as they come to have fun and enjoy the thrills of camping out and competing in activities, but also that they will learn good sportmanship.  Pray also for the devotional times as God's word is shared with them.  One focus will be to teach them about missions.

Please Pray for Needs!

As you can see from the pictures in previous posts, progress is being made with the work. This is thanks to all the volunteers who have been faithful to give of their time and talents to help with the work.  We appreciate all who have made the sacifrice of their time to come to help with this project. May God bless you all!!

We do have another workday scheduled for August 11, 2011.  We would appreciate anyone who is willing to come and help with the work.

We do have some needs we would like to ask you to pray with us about.  These are needs for the pavilion area.   God has already provided for some needs for the office building.  He has also provided  fixtures for the bathrooms & air conditioners. Now we continue to trust Him to provide for these others needs in His time and His way.  Thank you for praying with us.

Off With the Old and On with the New!

On July 28, we had another work day.  The main focus of the day was to tear off the old roof and replace it with a new metal one.  Despite the very hot temperatures, God blessed the work and one half of the old roof was torn off and the new one put on as you can see in the pictures below.   We are grateful to all who gave of their time to come and help with this project.  There were 3 churches represented from the group of workers who graciously gave of their time and efforts.  We appreciate your sacrifice very much. The other half of the roof work is scheduled  for August 11, 2012.

While the roof work of the office was going on at one end of the property, another crew was working at the pavilion framing for a window and 3 air conditioners, working on the second floor storage area and stripping and sanding cabinets to be used in the kitchen area.

Workday July 14, 2012

Work Day July 14, 2012

On July 14, 2012 we had a work day at the camp ministry site.  It was a blessing to have volunteers to come and help with the work.  We had a total of 6 working that day including Buddy and myself.   Volunteers are also going at other times working diligently to help us complete the task at hand before Sept.  We need to have the pavilion kitchen and bathroom areas completed before our Boy's Camping/Retreat Event which is scheduled for Sept. 14-15, 2012.  We appreciate all the volunteers.  We could not do it without your help.  God bless all you do in His Name!

Group Photos of Grandview Baptist Youth Group

Grandview Baptist Church's Re-Wired Youth Group

This group in the top photo worked at the camp ministry site  from Monday -Wednesday (June 25-27).  Pictured with them is our son, Mike Braswell.  He was one of the 3 adult leaders who worked with them all week. They accomplished a lot of work as you can see in the pictures in previous post this week.  We pray for God's blessing upon the group for their time given and the work they were able to complete.

Below is the entire group along with their Youth Minister, Allen Singley.  The entire group came on Tuesday to help lay the sod.  They were a tremendous blessing.  Our granddaughter, Ashleigh (in the red T-shirt) was a part of the group.  Again we appreciate all their work.
